Thanks guys, I'll compare amazon (cos I'm lazy) and the original volvo stuff as both seem to work perfectly well.

Thanks for the help

Default Steering Fluid

I'm a bit confused. I'm sure my steering fluid is red, not green as noted in this thread.

Have not needed to top up the fluid for some time but will be doing a service sometime in the next month so will check but, according to the book of Haynes, Dexron type ATF is what should be used and my handbook says "ATF oil" oil for the power steering and for the auto box it says "Dexron II E".

What is Volvo CHF?

Thanks.

Early cars use ATF, later ones use CHF (central hydraulic fluid) for the power steering. I forget the date but I think the change was around 1999. The cap for the power steering reservoir is colour coded. If it needs ATF the inside of the cap is red, if it needs CHF the inside is green.

I've used CHF11S (Comma MVCHF) and it's GREEN.
