Alternator Mounting
I removed the mounting screws on my 2008 s40 alternator, in order to remove the firewall to get at the PS pump. However, I can't seem to get the lower one back in ! The belt has not been removed. I think the screw is supposed to pass threw the alternator and line up with a bracket on the other side. I suspect maybe the alternator has moved on its mount, as it is designed to swivel on the top mounts ?
Anyone have any experience of this. Lower mount pictured. ] |

I never get any answers to questions on this forum. I feel like I'm being boycotted. Is it a Northern Ireland thing ?

i think you might have to release the tension on the belt to square things back up .

It's an elastic stretch belt. There's no tensioner. You mean I might have to take the belt off in order to realign ?
