Default EGR recall fix

Had mine done on Tue but ever since there's been a fairly strong burning smell (which wasn't there before) from the engine bay. Anyone else noticed this?

Looks like another trip to the dealer...

The recall has not been launched yet has it? are you sure it wasn't just the EGR good will repair which has been ongoing the last 4 years ?

I'm told it's the official fix which involves additional cooling hoses for the EGR system and an ECM update.

well that is exactly what they did from about 4 years ago so i don't think that is the recall which we were notified about back in the spring and are still waiting for ...

I had mine done past week and while no smell as such, I feel engine is lot louder and feels like revs are much faster (as if you are going uphill) as journey starts even on flat surface! I have been keeping an eye on the temp gauge but seems to stick to half way mark which I think is how it should be.

Well that's strange because the letter I've received implies a final fix, quote:
"Volvo has completed their investigations, working with the appropriate authorities, and has concluded that your Volvo will require..."
It then goes on to describe the hoses and ECM changes.

So if they've completed their investigations does that mean the 'old' fix you mention is the final solution? Or maybe it's a variation of the previous fix?

What you describe, was done on my V60, well over three years ago.
My V90 was in the dealers for most of the day on Monday and the only thing done, was to replace the Steering Wheel right hand key pad.

Just checked the DVSA and the Safety Recall is still required.
Maybe Clan is correct?

Does your car have a temp gauge?

I received a letter from Volvo re the safety recall asking me to arrange an appointment then a day or two later my dealer rang to ask if I wanted an appointment date to get the work done, as the earliest date was 23rd December I told them I will wait until the new year.
I am not in a hurry, I will wait to see what problems crop up from having this work carried out.

As above; Temperature gauge ?.

Did I misspoke it being temperature gauge? Is it coolant gauge?
