My 1989 440 Turbo which I bought in 1992 had two fog lights but in 1995 I fitted the facelift rear lights and then there was one... the near side had a bulb holder but no connection....

If I've got the choice, I don't drive in fog or falling snow so it's not a particular issue for me but I do find occasionally I have switched the rear fog light on by mistake presumably when putting the key in the ignition or starting the car (big clumsy hands).
I agree there are too many people driving along blissfully unaware of the "dazzle factor" in rain. Cheers Dave |

It's usually when releasing the Parking Brake - you accidently press the button with your thumb. However, the warning light on the DIM should alert you.

Yes, I do always use the PB so it could well be that.
As you say the indicator lamp usually alerts me but normally not until I've driven a little way. I'll try to keep an eye on that in future... Cheers Dave |

I live near a busy railway crossing and the number of times I’ve had to wait behind cars with rear fogs, or worse all the brake lights, blazing for minutes on end is infuriating. |

I agree I rarely use rear fogs unless it's bad and I can see no one behind. Just wondered if it was design or fault.....Come to think of it the Mrs V40 only has the one also.

The legislation around the use of fog lights (front or rear) is that they should not be used unless visibility is reduced below 100 metres.

And knowing the rules of when to use fog lights is part of the training to get your driver's licence
