Information regarding potential buyers.....

This is a heavily spec'd Volvo UK car which I recently saw with a creased osf door and scratched osf sill and bottom door

If it turns up for sale at a dealership check and ask questions, you know what dealers won't declare.....

Interesting. According to ukregnumbers.co.uk it was registered September '14 to February '15 in the Luton and Northampton area.
So, it has been sitting around for a while.
Anyone interested could also check the insurance status on askmid.com
There's a tale to tell here I'm sure.

This is for sale on the Doves website.

Looks like they have fixed the damage

How bad was the damage as it looks like a well spec'd model at a reasonable price?

Now it would be interesting to ask them if there has been any body shop repair on this vehicle. If you are lucky they will say yes and offer the receipts as proof of a genuine repair. Of course, it is 99% certain it will be a genuine repair, but that's not the point. Honesty in the dealer network is the issue.

Hi Guys,

My name is Rob and I represent Doves Volvo Croydon. I have been made aware of this thread and thought that I should provide you with a response and the information that we have uncovered on this car.

First of all I would like to say thank you for keeping an eye out for this sort of issue. We make every effort we can to provide the highest quality cars and service, but we rely on the information that is provided to us.

Certain posters are correct in assuming that this is an Ex-Volvo Management car. It was defleeted on the 29th May from Volvo and was delivered to the auction house located in Surrey on 23rd June.

We purchased the car on 1st July and it was delivered directly to us by the auction house on a transporter less than a week later.

Since this time it has remained in our stock and has only left our site for test drives.

Once the car arrived with us it went through our usual preparation. This included some minor paintwork correction (all cars get stone chips!) and a full valet.

So according to all the records we have and those from Volvo directly we don't know how this car could have been in Reading in early July and there are no records of it being involved in any accidents or anything other than minor cosmetic repair work needed.

I'm happy to try and answer question on this or any of our other cars should they arise.

Well, you know what Rob.... I wasn't previously a contributor to any element of this particular thread but it's good to know that you dealers read the material on the forum and that you've taken the time to respond. That counts for something with me. Obviously there's something not quite seamless on this issue but you've made it clear that you guys have been acting in good faith.

Arianne.

PS. It's a long shot, but you wouldn't be able to fix my VEA D4 XC60 that's currently in my local dealer for about the seventh time because of engine check, turtles and reduced performance warning lights? It's been about a year so far! Croydon's a long way from Scotland but if you have some 'magic dust' to heal my underperforming MY14.5 car then we're on our way.

PPS. I thought not. But worth a try!

Thanks Arianne. We do make every effort to provide the highest quality of cars and realise that we are a customer service business. Providing a poor quality product just doesn't help us in the long run. And whilst I can only really comment on our dealership, I think this holds true for most franchised dealerships.

P.S.
I will actually be up in Scotland next week, but unfortunately I'm not a mechanic. I will be enjoying the Edinburgh Festival, The Falkirk Wheel and Loch Lomond though.
