Default Engine oil for VEA

So reading the threads about VEA motors using oil I decided I should probably get a litre just in case mine needs topping up......

The 0W-20-20 Castrol edge seems no longer available....

https://applications.castrol.com/oil...kw)-(2015-2017)

So what is the correct toil how much is a litre and where is best to buy it.....

It looks like you can get Volvo spec from Shell now. You can currently order it from eurocarparts with discount applied for £41 for 5litres.

If you are passing Swansea anytime you could call into FRF Volvo parts dept and tell them you want to buy stuff on account 'C3' (this is the account for forum members). Or, of course, you can just give them a call and ask for a price - they will post too but obviously you need to add postage.
I'm pretty sure that Christmas time the oil there was cheaper than above (but only 4litres) even before applying the forum discount code and the genuine wipers there were cheaper than bosch, etc, anywhere else.

The VEA needs a 0w-20 that meets Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE. I bought this one for top-ups... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5L-0W20-F...-/122740556779

I decant 0.5L at a time into a suitable container and carry that around to simply pour the whole lot in if/when the 'add 0.5L' message pops up (as it does every couple of months)

I am rarely Swansea way when they are open annoyingly. Postage on a litRe of oil is a pain. Was hoping I could pick up a bottle from a local factors for a reasonable price.

A motor factor will not stock this oil as there is not going to be any demand for it ..

Plenty of approved and compatible oils:

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-3559-vo...ngine-oil.aspx

If you only want 1 litre try their eBay shop as they often do cheaper prices than on their main site with free P&P

Motul Specific RBS0-2AE is good and Volvo approved.

I hadn't heard that Castrol have stopped doing Edge. It comes up on their site for my V40 (2015 on) and the current MSDS data sheet was only published November 2019.

https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united...ml#tab_0w-20-v

I use Motul though as Castrol's use of 4L containers and the lower availability plus cost of 1L containers makes it very expensive for oil changes.

I bought 1 litre of Shell oil Volvo spec 0w-20 Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE from my local Euro Car Parts.
Part number 521773562, price £17.49.
They had the oil in stock, didn't need to order it

It appears on Castrol site but every stockist I have looked at online is out of stock....... I might get some motul or pop into a dealer if I’m passing one service isn’t due for months and have some long journeys coming up
