I had a sealant repair kit on a previous C4 Grand Picasso. Normally Citroen supply a space saver wheel but as mine had air suspension there was no space for the spare...only the compressor. I only had the car for a year or so but it was always at the back of my mind that this was going to cause me grieve if I had a puncture...which no doubt would happen on the way to the airport. I would prefer a full size steel spare but at least the Tempa is a good second best. My Dealer automatically assumed that I would opt for the Tempa but I did check. I think that the XC60 should have a low tyre pressure system as standard...it can't cost that much if it's based on the abs system and perhaps doesn't need any additional hardware at all? I beleive I read somewhere that cars will have to have such a system fitted as standard in the future but I haven't seen anything recently?

Just taken delivery of my new V60 and didn't realize it didn't have a spare! Is it true that there is a tempa spare wheel option at no cost? Can I go back to the Dealer and ask them to order me one? Only had the car two days!

Don't know but on the XC60 it was a no-cost option, the dealer should have asked yoiu when filling in the order form.

Thanks for that - the car was a special offer already fitted out so I guess the dealer assumed I would know about the lack of spare wheel but I will go back to them now and ask.

Actually just done that and apparently V60 never had that option but I understand that Volvo have now told dealers that the Tempa spare wheel is no longer available anyway. Something to do with 'saving the planet' by only using four tyres and not five! Any comment anyone?

When ordering mine, the dealer advised a spare wheel, which i was grateful for as I would not have given it a thought at the time.

If you have a brochure - it is fairly clear that they don't come as std on the XC60 and the the Tempa spare is a no cost option (well was an option)
so it is really up to the person making the purchase to say what he/she wants and what they don't want.

Can't say what is says in the brochure for the S/V60 - Has your dealer confirmed that he S/V60's do not have the option at all? I'm thinking what if any provison is there in the boot

There are so many cars that come with a can of gunk in place of a tyre
the manufacturers are just copying each other on the no spare matter

Tempa spares discontinued on all Volvos, except XC90 according to my dealer, manufactured from July 2011 onwards. See thread below.

Unhappy Spare wheels etc

I have been in contact with Volvo Customer Services and they confirm that none of their cars will have a spare tyre, Tempa or otherwise w.e.f. 4th July 2011. They stress that new cars come with one year free Recovery and an inflator kit in the boot. They also comment that they expect other manufacturers to follow suit. I suppose I could source a spare wheel and tyre and squeeze it into the boot area of the V60 but it certainly wont go under the tray, there just aint enough room.

new S60/V60 have an option called Self Supporting Tyre - it should be something like RunFlat for BMW. That is what I would choose, if buying V60. unfortunately, this is no option for XC60...
