Might explain why Volvo are going the can 'o Gunk route...

Paul
I suppose a similar argument could be put forward for abandoning diesel engines on the basis that diesel supplies are overstretched. Oh hang on, carmakers don't bear any of the cost of the fuel, so it doesn't matter to them.

I haven't noticed Volvo providing me with any subsidy for tyres, (let alone fuel) - am I missing something?

The car comes fitted with a set of tyres. While one pays for these in the purchase price of the car, volvo has to purchase them to start with and this will have an effect on the price of the car and contributes to the complications of production. Neither of which in my view justifies dropping the spare wheel. I would like to see it bounce back.

Default Tempa Spare Wheels - No Longer Available

I ordered my XC 60 a couple of weels ago and have been told that Tempa spare wheels are not avaialble. This is a major blow, as I am not at all impressed with with repair kits!

I paid £ 275 for an after sale Tempa spare in my V50 (you also have to pay for the jack etc) but just as well as I had to use it several times in central London. If the puncture is too big or too close to the tire wall the sealing kit won't work. I just got a flat tire on my 3 day old XC60....but I have a Tempa spare luckily.

Just picked up a 3 inch long 3mm wide welding rod through the back tyre of my motorbike today. Just for info I stuck a can of tyre weld in and it didn't do any good what so ever, so its a tempa spare for the XC60 !

Default Tempa Spare Availability

Hi,

Have just ordered a XC60 D5 SE Lux and asked dealer to provide a spacesaver spare wheel. This used to be a no cost option but not any longer. Awaiting a price but not a happy bunny

I went through this exercise a few weeks ago for a C70.

Here are Irish euro prices:

SPARE WHEEL RIM € 50.09 inc vat
SPARE TYRE € 131.43 inc vat
JACK € 60.78 inc vat
Socket wrench € 22.14 inc vat
Bag, spare wheel € 216.95 inc vat

I'm sorry, but I think having to pay for a spare wheel AND jack/and socket spanner is completely disgusting.

I'm about to place my order and will make it perfectly clear that if I am spending almost £35,000.00 on a car then I expect it to have those items with it by default. Otherwise I'll simply not buy the car.

If they want to argue over £200 or so, let them.
