Cool Advice

I have recently purchased the xc60 and need some simple advice. The car is quite high and is taller than my Scenic. I always used to wash the Scenic with a broom type device and it was very fast as compared to the recommended advice to use a sponge. I am apprehensive about using the broom handled washer on the xc as I have been told that I could leave some scratches. Are there any owners who use the broom type washer or will I need to resort to the sponge which I think could hold more grit and cause more scratches than the broom. I also have a pressure washer but it seems to powerful to use on the car or would this be the best to use.

Cool

I always use a Meguiars Lambswool Wash mit (around £10 from fleabay) for Bonnet, sides, windows etc
For the roof I use a Meguiars Ultra Plush Wash Mop (a telescopic pole which extends to 152cm ideal for caravans etc £17.99)

always try to remove the fine grit with clean water before I start.

AND EXPENSIVE! Throw away the brush and the sponge (unless it is a Grout Sponge). Buy a small step to reach the roof with a Lambs Wool Wash Mitt (an LED Torch will show up the swirls on your paint).

Personally, I find using many cans of compressed air for non-contact cleaning the best :-)

Tell me about it....had one car that spent more time being cleaned then driven. Even took the wheels off everytime I washed it....not good. Drove my partner mad! and even my neighbours were concerned about my state of mind as everytime I used the car it had to be cleaned.

Plan on paying someone to do the XC90 once the weather gets better so it's ready for the summer but a bucket and sponge is as far as it goes now.

Folding caravan steps will allow you to reach the roof with your sponge.
Store reasonably flat afterwards too.
