It is not so much the engine but the whole spec now as most of what I wanted and ordered is now standard and some of it is not available without changing spec, memory seats for example. I have had and still do have an excellent relationship with Slaters and would not deal with anyone else, they have been truly fantastic over the years. I think it is the case that everyone is getting caught up with the new specs and configurations and even the dealers are not totally aware of what is going on. I went on the Volvo website today and they are still showing the 2.4d FWD version on there and the MY10 spec, so if Volvo UK don't know then there is no hope. I guess it is a case of it will come out in the wash. I may be lucky and get a MY10 version but as soon as I know I will post the findings here. Teejay, discount wise I just got free servicing and £2000 from Volvo. I guess when you have a car this much in demand then they don't need to discount it much. I did check around first and found Slaters to be keenly priced and there customer service is second to none. I live in Salisbury but choose to deal with them in North Wales and that is 240 miles away. That should say a lot.

The £2000 px deal comes from Volvo not the dealership, so in effect you have paid full list prices. I would wait a few days then check drive the deal or similar sites to see what discounts can be achieved, I got nearly £6000 off, free privacy glass and they gave me a car to use for 4 weeks whilst I waited for march 1st.
I know others on here that claim better discounts...and by waiting you'll be able to confirm specs etc...

I got a really good deal as my car was in stock in their showroom. I had already enquired about a lower spec model and they rang me to let me know they had an actual r-design in to view. I had no intention on buying it, they quoted me on it and it was nearly £4000 dearer than what I was looking at prior to viewing. I td them that some of the extras on the car had no value to me as I would mot have ticked those options on the order form. I am not really good at haggling but that was my position, I was not playing games. They kept on adding discounts & freebies until I could not resist. I would recommend finding any dealer with physical stock rather than a blank order as they seem very keen to keep stock cars moving. The dealer was Sturgess of Leicester, I was also quoted really good discounts at Marshalls of Grantham, they are the dealer that ukcarbrokers trade their cars through...
