Default XC60 - MY14 Bumper sill protection

So it seems that volvo have stopped doing the black plastic insert for the top of the bumper sill and its painted the same colour as the car (even though its clearly a removable panel) I wish they had left it as an option.

Having two dogs that will be jumping in and out i would like to add some protection, there must be other people with this same problem so looking for some solutions to protect it from scratched. Have so far seen paint protection film and also a black 'stick on' strip as a solution but would like to see if anyone has some first hand experiences and advice.

Thanks.

If you have a boot liner with the bit that flaps over this protects it.

You can definitely still get rear bumper protection strip. I've ordered one to be fitted to mine, due for collection on Wednesday. The strip is not as good as the older version which I think was a complete replacement of the insert. The new one is just as strip that sits on top. Hopefully still does the job though.

From what I understand the strip is plastic, black in colour with clear plastic strips mimicking the groves on the older version. The car's paint colour then comes through so that the strip ends up Black and body coloured. I'm hoping my labrador doesn't think it's piano given the bright silver paint

LOL, thanks, was that direct from a volvo dealer? Mine indicated there there was nothing available, do you have a part number at all?

Sounds like this would be just the job.

I think someone has already posted a part number so hopefully that's answered your question. If not though I found this online which might help. I've not actually seen mine but assuming this is it http://www.evolvestore.co.uk/XC60-Bumper-Protection

Yes I have ordered mine from main volvo dealer..... Not the one from link though.

This is of interest to me as well as my current car has lots of little scratches from dog paws, cricket bags, golf bags etc. The bumper sticks out too much and almost encourages items to be dragged over it.

I understand what this strip does but in my circumstances, a lease car, can the strip be easily removed after the end of my term and the bumper will be okay or is this designed to be stuck on for ever more? I need to protect the bumper for returning the car, if I can't remove the strip then it defeats the purpose a little.
