Default V60 D4 (VEA) manual - service number 6

My 2015 V60 D4 (VEA) manual is 5 years old next month and needs service number 6. It'll be on about 82k miles.

I've been trying to find what the listed service items are, however these are not shown in my service record, neither can I find them on the Volvo website. Please does anyone have a suggestion where I might find this information, ideally in a link?

I'm minded to do the work myself. Is this a reasonable proposition for an experienced DIYer with a decent tool kit, but no VIDA/DiCE nor any other specialist Volvo tools? I realise that I'm obviously going to need some detailed info, such as volume of oil, etc.

I'd do mine myself but I'm worried about keeping the full Volvo service history for future problems. Despite about 4 coolers and a new engine 10000 miles ago, I've already got severe hesitation at low throttle so I'm expecting the tortoise any day soon.

Thanks for the link, but while I can get a quote (£420) I can't get the detailed breakdown that you've posted (which I suspect was for service number 5?). It still seems very expensive for what I'm guessing is a glorified oil change and a breakdown recovery annual policy (having said that, does anyone know how 'valve stem intake, all check' is performed and the assessment criteria?).

I also share your concern about Volvo being less willing to help with future problems if we do not maintain the FVSH, especially as these VEA engines cannot really be trusted. I'll probably call my local dealer and try to get a quote that doesn't include the breakdown recovery. I should probably also ask about the outstanding 'recall' actions, as I'm one of the many left in limbo by Volvo and their appalling treatment of potentially affected owners.

I don't want to tempt fate, but my car is running fine.

I spent quite a bit of the summer driving round the south coast and Scotland and it performed beautifully and I started to warm to it again. However, within 2 weeks of getting back from Scotland a hesitation started when cruising around 30 - 40mph which seems to be getting worse. I'm waiting for the recall letter as I'm hoping it will fall under that.

your car should be having the 5th year / 90000 mile service , number 5

The main thing here is the cambelt and related parts , the interval has recently been reduced from 150000 miles to 90000 miles ...

It is critical you only add exactly 5 litres of volvo SPECIFIC RBS0-2AE 0w-20 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil .
the oil level gauge MUST also me calibrated as part of the service . Breakdown cover is free ,you might as well take it up ... it costs the dealer nothing so they will not take money off... it has no cost ...

When it was new my car was a leasehire vehicle that racked up a high mileage, resulting in 3 services being required in the first 2 years. In recent years the mileage has become far less than 18k p.a., hence the servicing has reverted to being annual, but nevertheless still 'one service ahead' of what the age would suggest.

Clan, do you have any knowledge of the intake valve stem checks? I imagine it's a new thing since the associated recall, but I've no idea how these checks are made?

alas no , i cant see how you can inspect inlet valve stems without taking the Inlet manifold off . Let the dealer explain it ... Maybe this is something to do with the recent recall ..

It seems a bit cheeky that 'valve stem intake, all check' has become a service item (presumably for which the customer is charged) if the requirement for that procedure has arisen in relation to a recall issue!

I'll be sure to mention this and the outstanding recall with the service desk.

If I was to buy a VIDA 2014d DVD from eBay would it contain all the info I require to perform a DIY service?
