V60 D4 (VEA) manual - service number 6
My 2015 V60 D4 (VEA) manual is 5 years old next month and needs service number 6. It'll be on about 82k miles.
I've been trying to find what the listed service items are, however these are not shown in my service record, neither can I find them on the Volvo website. Please does anyone have a suggestion where I might find this information, ideally in a link? I'm minded to do the work myself. Is this a reasonable proposition for an experienced DIYer with a decent tool kit, but no VIDA/DiCE nor any other specialist Volvo tools? I realise that I'm obviously going to need some detailed info, such as volume of oil, etc.

Despite about 4 coolers and a new engine 10000 miles ago, I've already got severe hesitation at low throttle so I'm expecting the tortoise any day soon.

I also share your concern about Volvo being less willing to help with future problems if we do not maintain the FVSH, especially as these VEA engines cannot really be trusted. I'll probably call my local dealer and try to get a quote that doesn't include the breakdown recovery. I should probably also ask about the outstanding 'recall' actions, as I'm one of the many left in limbo by Volvo and their appalling treatment of potentially affected owners. I don't want to tempt fate, but my car is running fine.

I'm not sure why you're on service 6 at 5 years old but 6 years old, 108k gives me £475 in Warrington. If you click on the 'i' next to the service it gives a breakdown:-
Included in this service Examples of service actions: Brake pads, brake discs - check SRI - set the service reminder indicator (SRI) to zero Engine, transmission - check for leaks Air cleaner passenger compartment replace Fuel filter replacement Air cleaner engine replace Additional actions completed at this service Automatic transmission control - check the park / neutral position (PNP) switch Engine coolant - check and adjust the antifreeze/corrosion protection strength Engine oil, oil filter - change oil and oil filter External lighting - check the function Fluid levels - engine compartment - check and adjust the brake Fluid, clutch fluid, power steering fluid, washer fluid, coolant level Fuel filter - drain off the condensation Horn - check operation Parking brake - check and adjust Roof system - check and lubricate Seat belts - check the function and for signs of wear Valve stem intake, all check Washers and wipers for windshields and headlamps - check the function and for signs of wear Wheels and tyres: check for damage, thread depth of tyres in mm FL_____, FR_____, RL_____, RR_____ Headlamp/fog lamp - check and align headlamps Reset tyre pressure monitor system Tyres excl. spare wheel: check and adjust the air pressure FL_____,FR_____,RL_____,RR_____ AWD: Final drive, bevel gear - check for leaks AWD: Propeller shaft, pilot bearing, universal joint - check for signs of wear Brake lines, fuel lines, fuel filter - check for leakage and damage Drive shafts - check for wear - check rubber bellows for condition / damage Front suspension, steering system - check for wear and damage Rear wheel suspension - check for wear and damage Vehicle with camera for collision warning - clean the inside of the windscreen in front of the camera lens Excluded in this service (may need replacing) Brake fluid replace £65 Reservoir sealing fluid replacement- Control and replace every four years £50 I spent quite a bit of the summer driving round the south coast and Scotland and it performed beautifully and I started to warm to it again. However, within 2 weeks of getting back from Scotland a hesitation started when cruising around 30 - 40mph which seems to be getting worse. I'm waiting for the recall letter as I'm hoping it will fall under that.

The main thing here is the cambelt and related parts , the interval has recently been reduced from 150000 miles to 90000 miles ... It is critical you only add exactly 5 litres of volvo SPECIFIC RBS0-2AE 0w-20 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil . the oil level gauge MUST also me calibrated as part of the service . Breakdown cover is free ,you might as well take it up ... it costs the dealer nothing so they will not take money off... it has no cost ...

Clan, do you have any knowledge of the intake valve stem checks? I imagine it's a new thing since the associated recall, but I've no idea how these checks are made?

It seems a bit cheeky that 'valve stem intake, all check' has become a service item (presumably for which the customer is charged) if the requirement for that procedure has arisen in relation to a recall issue!
I'll be sure to mention this and the outstanding recall with the service desk. If I was to buy a VIDA 2014d DVD from eBay would it contain all the info I require to perform a DIY service?
