Default Bio diesel in an xc60 D4

Afternoon guys! I’ve been thinking about running my XC60 on bio diesel, has anyone else done this or know if it’s doable? If so is there anything I’d need to change or look out for? Thanks in advance

I would say avoid the stuff like the plague. I run a large 6ltr Volvo Marine Diesel and I like many others have diesel bug in my tanks caused by bio additives in the diesel. Its costly to get rid of. It is a major problem regularly discussed on the marine forums. Even the additives have variable efficacy against it, necessitating regular tank flushes and replacement fuel filters.
The bug feeds off the fatty acids in the bio diesel and the water moisture in the tank. Result, fine spirals like spun silk which clogs fuel filters and eventually stops the engine.
Whilst less likely with cars that have small tanks regularly refuelled I would still avoid the stuff if you can. Trying to source FAME free marine diesel is becoming very difficult.
Not a very green reply to your post but it has been an costly business for many boaters.
I know I could get a sail but I could also get a bike!

A mechanic I know told me once to avoid the stuff also. He's seen cars come in with algae clogging fuel lines, engine components. Common cause, motors run on biodiesel. For that reason I won't be chancing it.

Bio is great on Snot and Sawdust diesels with a mechanical pump and injectors but on common rail with lots of sensors I’d avoid it. In my Land Rover days most people were warned off using it with common rail engines due to gummed up sensors, shortening the life of the fuel pumps and the damage it was doing to the rubber seals etc. I would seriously spare yourself the cost.
