Default V60 d4 2.0 cross country gear change

Hi
I'm not impressed with this 8speed auto gearbox when the car is cold it's changed throught the 1st few gears ok then it's sticks in a gear and tries to change but can't and the harder you press the accelerator the car just gets faster and revs harder and then all of a sudden it will change and won't do it again all day. I've also noticed some of the gear changes are abit rough.
Car has only done 40k on a 16 plate
Any ideas would be great
Thanks
Tom

Get the codes read at the dealer and get em to check the state of the oil. If your gears are sticking it could be the solenoid block, is it out of warranty yet? By the way, have you posted this somewhere else on an FB site?

That's a pity because it is renowned as a very good gearbox across several maker forums. If it's done any towing g/box fluid change is required every 2nd service, failing that my Volvo dealership have been told all Aisin 8 speeds need fluid change at the 5 year service.
Mine tows and is on 93k and is seamlessly smooth. Will be interesting what the cause is.

Hi guys
Yeah thankfully it's still under warranty and no never towed in its life well it doesn't have a tow bar so I'm going with that theory. I do hope it's something they can sort as apart from that it's amazing to drive
The car is booked in tomorrow so see what they say

Good luck.... Sounds like a sticking solenoid block.

Is it a big job doing something like that.? What I don't understand is it's basically new car only done 40k like why it's done it.Hopefully it's something they can sort and it be like new again

Are you sure this is a fault ? It could be an emission thing , to warm the engine up quicker and get the EGR working quicker for example .

My MY2016 V60 D4 does this when the engine is cold - almost sounds like it's a CVT rather than regular auto. Just assumed it was to warm the engine/gearbox faster

Well car went to volvo they did a adaption reset and said for me to drive the car how I normally would and the gearbox will learn how I drive. Still holding gears when cold and bangs into drive and reverse so far not seeing much difference..
Looks like it might be going back again next week
