It's the 2004 onwards rear lights mate, exact same shape but slightly different design.

Where did you get them from and do you have any idea if they do them for the V70?

Yes, aware of the different light clusters arrangement.......... just wondered who the aftermarket supplier was in case they were also made clusters for the V70

They must have the electronics inside but most I imagine will anyway. The new clusters have a large guide pin which needs to be ground down to allow fitment and then filled (to avoid condensation getting in). There is also the method of bending back or removing the metal guide ring on the bodywork, which I did. Once bolted in the lights are just plug and play. There's some useful info and pics in this link - http://mys60project.blogspot.co.uk/

There is a company that does aftermarket upgrades but as you will see in this link they are not particularly cheap and appear to be exactly the same as what you can pick up from a scrap yard. http://www.vivaperformance.com/jewel...2001-2004-s60/ They don't appear to do any rear light mods for the V70 though.

Got a few parts from the brakers today, a Sachs strut in good condition, and a Volvo end link. Also grabbed a few of these lug nuts, not sure if these are Volvo branded ? The washer part helps the lug to tighten to the correct torque more so than the model without washer.
Side note, this Sachs strut is the same part number as the blue sticker Super Touring Sachs. These are supposed to be the best replacement choice for struts/shock absorbers. I can tell that I've found often times these Sachs at the scrappers, and most of the times these are already weakened/worn. From about 10 Sachs struts and shock absorbers I've found to date, only 3 of them were in good condition. Makes me think these don't last as long as we would like, couple of years yes but surely no more than 5-6 years.

Starting life with a prayer for 5-6 years against an expected life of only a "couple"....then after culling 10 you found only 3 which might be "good"?
If so, I hope you got it real cheap. By your own formula they don't last long. For the effort involved, I'd go with new ones unless you have a plan and this one strut was a stop gap measure. Did one of your fronts spring a leak? Today I did my 3rd transmission drain & fill. I'm at 76K and I won't do it again 'til 100K. |
