Also verify the PCV when going to look at it, it takes two seconds, may just use a larger piece of plastic bag over the oil fill hole, it should suck in quite well at idle

Hi all,
Cheers for all of the responses and help. The deal all went a bit sour, sadly. The dealer put the price up by £500 and would only honour the price it was up at if I left a non-refundable deposit without me even seeing it. The car is in Kent and I'm in Wolverhampton.
I would have happily left a holding deposit, but I'm not going to throw away £100 if it was a nail. I was having to travel nearly 4 hours on the train, so he knew I was serious. Hey ho!
Back to the drawing board.
Si

You were serious but the seller was not. Better this way, might have been a problem car

**UPDATE**

I've found another one; same engine and spec, a few months older, a couple of thousand more miles, a couple of hundred quid more but condition is WAY better.
Fingers crossed!!

I’ll be picking up my S60 on Saturday. It drove beautifully.
Other than milky headlamps, it’s a belter. I know what Saturday afternoon will involve now!
Now, where’s that drill?.......

Well I picked it up on Saturday and all seems well so far. I gave it a full valet yesterday (I used to be a valeter) and I’ll hopefully be tackling the headlights today. Stunned with how good the bodywork is.
It drives beautifully too.
Thanks for all of the advice and info. I’m glad to be back in a Volvo again.

Hi Simon, the TCV unit is Volvo part number 9473212 which is a pierburg part.

Shouldnt cost too much if you shop around, £30-50 online.

The part arrived and worked well. Acceleration is transformed! Trouble now is that after I came back from test driving it after fitting the new valve, I noticed the back box hanging low. The steel hanger that attaches to the tail pipe and goes into the rubber bracket has completely rotted away. Any idea if I can get a replacement as the back box itself is fine?
