Vida Dice problem - Page 2

Can't disconnect the laptop power lead as the battery is well and truly buggered. Interesting thought that that could be the problem.

I did install the drivers manually and Vida still said no.

I connected a different Dice to the laptop and received exactly the same outcome.

Does the laptop have sound and working ok?
Do you hear the USB connect and disconnect bongs ok?

No bongs when the USB is (dis)connected. Laptop works fine otherwise but not sure about sound as it is used purely for diagnostics.

If sound is working you should hear a bong for usb (dis)connection, in device manager, does it refresh when you plug in The usb, I wonder if its the cable, but then if you're using the cable that came with it then it should work, if not the same cable then you could be using power only USB leads, you need to use a data/power usb, but then again, my dice USB is built in, it doesn't come off

I deliberately tried a different Dice and cables to rule out that possibility. Made no difference. The cables are originals. I'll try the laptop for sound.

No sound from the laptop either with or without Vida/Dice connected.

So, are you saying that the laptop has no sound full stop? or just regarding the USB side of it?

The laptop makes its noises as it starts up but as I use it for nothing else but diagnostics I can't say anymore.

OK, well, that tells me that its the Dice connection that is deffo the issue, by rights, if the computer detects a USB device, it will make its (dis)connection sound, that will happen regardless of drivers installed, well, all mine do, you can confirm this by plugging in another USB device, be it phone or tablet or drive or stick etc, best try that just to make sure the lappy does in fact make a USB sound. What Windows is it? all mine are Windows 10, and to be fair, i cannot remember if Windows 7 makes that same sound, can anyone with Windows 7 chime (pun not intended but works lol) in please?
