Smile 760 turbo estate for sale

This looks lovely and I guess it’s becoming a rare car?

eBay item 163914121395.

Indeed, there aren't that many 760 Turbos around now. This one is particularly unique as being a mk2 with a manual gearbox.

Here another (albeit a mk1 V6 saloon) with exceptionally low mileage.

This one really has been looked after.

Very nice! Again, I really wonder if such cars are worth what the vendors asking? I guess it’s all relative, and all I can say is I wouldn’t pay nearly three grand for this car.
I would love a 164, but again I am not sure I would pay £10k for one. But at the end of the day, with the money in your pocket, and stood next to the right car, I probably would!

Both are lovely looking cars, for me "there ain't no replacement for displacement" so it would have to be the saloon (the estate gets ignored because it's manual to start with) but that one was before Volvo played with the B28E and turned it into the B280E which would put me off somewhat but the big put-off is the location.

It's quite well known in the area that it's not a good move to buy an older used car from the Bournemouth area - or at least was. Many reasons for this including but not limited to the sea-breeze effect causing excessive corrosion but the less obvious one is that Bournemouth is a haven for retirees.
That in itself isn't a problem but very often they've made their money elsewhere and moved to Bournemouth to retire, buying a new car at the same time. Often it is their first ever new car so they either don't notice little faults or think it's normal and do nothing about it.
These escalate into bigger faults, unscrupulous dealers then buy the cars at a knock-down price, bodge the bigger faults and sell them on to the unsuspecting public.

In the case of this 760 saloon, it has a Bournemouth registration suggesting it's always been in the area so likely to suffer the sea-breeze effect a bit more. I notice that the seller is a retired mechanic and it has a short MoT - need i say more?

I hate it when people like you come and look at my cars.

I’m more of a ‘if it looks and feels right, buy it’ kind of guy.

It’s served me quite well in the past.

Not sure that the sea breeze effect is that drastic and while I note that the seller is now retired I cannot see that he was a mechanic?

What part of my comments do you not agree with?

Believe me, i've had a few cars from the Bournemouth and surrounding areas and it is!

As for the comment about retired mechanic, i'm sure that's what it said when i viewed it, it doesn't say that now. Whether i was wrong and imagined it or whether the seller has changed it, i don't know. If i'm wrong then apologies for any misleading that may have happened!
