S40 59 plate Air Conditioning Issue

Hi

I've not long bought this and air conditioner isn't working, the previous owner says it's the restrictor but when do searches I can't find anything on this. Has anyone else had issue like this?

Might be best to see if you have a leak in the system first.

fairly common problems with either the condenser or compressor going. If its a leak, most likely will be at the condenser.

Yep - My 2010 C30 (same platform) had to have a condensor fitted after a regas wouldn't keep the A/C cold... badly positioned and prone to stone damage too easily

Our V50 currently has non-functional aircon. Gone through its 3rd condenser in 7yrs and now needs another. Got to be the worst designed aircon system in the history of mankind.

My money's on the OP's condenser.

yes it is not the best and they are really soft metal. Other things that would ruin the condenser is jet washing your car or any high power wash to the lower front of the car, driving too close to the car in front in wet weather etc ... they all add up to ruining it. Dealer mentioned this to me when mine was changed and it has been sound for over 3 years now.
