Default Trailer board - indicators lights work, brake lights don’t

Can anyone offer any advice?
I’ve cleaned up all the connectors.
Do I need a specific trailer board for my XC90 or do I need to take any specifics steps when fitting a trailer board?

More info please

Age of car?

Type of lamps on trailer board (LED or incandescent)?

First time of trying or did it work before?

Does another trailer board/trailer work?

Volvo trailer electrics or aftermarket?

Cheers

Dave

13 pin or 7 pin?

First step is to diagnose whether it’s the car or the board... that’s a multi meter job.
