Side Marker Light
Could anyone advise the part number, and recommend a supplier, for an off-side rear side marker light for a 2000 S40 XS. I understand that this item is a sealed unit, is this true? Thank you, Steve.

RE: Side Marker Light
best to get an original Volvo part from a dealer (they usually carry stock). the side marker for a 99 V40 works out around £14 inc. VAT. it's only £2 more than GSF and is superior quality. however i think the 2000 V40's side markers are larger so might be more expensive. best give a dealer a call and ask, then compare with GSF's website.
m. ps yes, it's a sealed unit. |

RE: Side Marker Light
I have a 2002 V40SD and was told by Volvo that the side markers on my car were sealed units. After "Popping" one out that intermittantly went off, I found that there were NOT a sealed unit but had the same bulb in as the head lamp side lights. £0.50 compered to £15 to fix!

RE: Side Marker Light
Pre face lift are sealed units. They can be fixed for around 50p if you are prepared to spend some time doing it. Remove the "seal" around the rear of the bulb. Remove bulb, solder new one in place, use some filler to seal new bulb in place.
What annoyed me was that these are "sealed" units. My bulb failed because the unit was half fulll of water, so obviously a defective unit. Would Volvo repace if FOC, would they F***! |

Tiny little thing about 5mm diameter.
I bet you could replace them with an LED and resistor, then they would easily outlast the car! |
