Post Brake lights stuck on

Hi guys, I'm desparate for your help on this one!

I took my car for a spin today, came back, parked it, closed, everything seemed as usual... Well, until I turned my head back to see that the brake lights are stuck on! I've tried everything but the only solution was to disconnect all three lamps.
Have you got any suggestions to what possibly might have caused this?

BTW the stupidity of volvo design is immense. A) There is no separate fuse for brake lights and B) to access the fuse box under the steering wheel you have to unscrew two bolts, which won't let go without using the screwdriver, which (you've guessed it) is not provided by Volvo!

Cheers

A look at the switch on the brake pedal would be my first thought.

I thought so as well, but it doesn't look stuck or damaged in any sort of way.

Yes, but does it work?

Try disconnecting the wiring, do the brake lights go out?

I guess Clan is refering to water in the CEM for the '05.

At least yours should be under warrantee.
