850R Manual (uk car)
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114948718422
Lift from my ebay advert:- Volvo 850R (I refer to it as a T5 on steroids) Genuine UK car. May 1996. One of only 68 (not including Autos) currently registered on the road in the UK Manual (always has been) V5 present and in my name. Owned since February 2013. 181569 miles (will rise very slowly) £270 tax a year. Classic car insurance on this was £160 this year. (Not bad for a near 300 horse flying Swedish Moose) Literally thousands spent over the years. CD changer in the boot. Heated driver and passenger electric seats. Sunroof Genuine Volvo strut brace One key and fob (working) Power locks all round. Electric windows. Nivomat self-levelling rear suspension. Works perfectly. AC (not gassed and has a leak somewhere). I did get it re-gassed a few years ago. It worked for about two months before the levels got too low and it stopped. I could see the bright fluid dripping from under the AC pump. The climate control works but it flashes when you start the car to indicate a fault. The code is presents is for the little temperature sensor/fans that are hidden in the roof lining near the handles. They are very hard to come by. I do around 1000 miles in it every year. It is serviced every year. Doesn’t have much of a way in service history records since I bought it. I never really intended on getting rid of it and as I serviced it every year no matter the mileage it almost felt pointless. I have endless receipts and paperwork. MOT’d till 30th October 2021. History as follows:- 2005 – 130,572 miles 2006 – 137,645 miles 2007 – 143,908 miles 2008 – 148,932 miles 2009 – 154,210 miles 2010 – 158,064 miles 2011 – 163,423 miles 2012 – 168,183 miles 2013 – 173,040 miles 2014 – 174,056 miles 2017 – 174,773 miles (Don’t panic!! I had the car tucked up in a dry barn for two years as it needed new shocks and ARB joints, I used to keep it off the road in Winter until I realised this wasn’t always a good idea for an old cars, better to be used.) 2018 – 176,042 miles 2019 – 177,568 miles 2020 – 179,924 miles (big jump here from 2019 as the little gears on the odometer broke, common problem, it was fixed and I wound the miles back on to what they should have been. You can read the true mileage with a Bluetooth OBD reader and android App so I was able to put it bang on what it should be) It has the larger 302mm fronts brakes (Police spec Volvo pads). Turbo – Removed and CHRA (Centre Housing Rotating Assembly, basically the cartridge) replaced with “MELETT” TD04HL 16T core (purchased from Turborebuilds in the UK). In essence, the Turbo is good for a long time. All gaskets and washers replaced. Standard manifold replaced with Volvo “japanifold” (If you know your stuff, you’ll know what this means). Essentially Volvo made a better exhaust manifold in the years after. This flows better and it another well documented upgrade. They are like rocking horse poop to get a hold off. Part number 9207688 if you are interested. One piece metal exhaust gasket (from V50/S40 T5) installed instead of the fiddly individual ones that come as standard. In 2019 I spent £2000 on parts and labour to fit the following (Done my local Volvo specialist):- New rear strut top mounts New LH and RH track rod ends Rear axle outer bushes All engine mounts replaced (Some then and others over my ownership, front bottom, rear bottom, top mounts and bulkhead, side mount) The subframe bushes (all 4, big job!) Rear inner axle bushes Front heavy duty suspension arms New ARB mounts and bushes Braided brake hoses all round (GOODRIDGE) Rear suspension delta arm mounts New rear calipers, discs and pads New front calipers Rear handbrake shoes and cables £1000 of parts Every single suspension bush and mount has been replaced either then or in my ownership. The cam cover was removed and re-sealed to sort an oil seepage issue. Other things replaced in my ownership:- Cambelt and tensioner (genuine) done 2017 around 175k miles. Done due to age, not mileage. Dizzy cap and arm Ignition leads Spark plugs Cam shaft end rubber seals Gearbox fluid replaced New fuel filter PCV oil breather replaced with new housing and all pipe work (very important) Expansion tank and cap New boot struts New gear knob New pedal rubbers Recent new battery. Turbo return gasket (common oil leak problem, and was causing it in the 2020 MOT remarks) KUHMO ECSTA PS71 205/45 R17 all rounds. Brand new January 2021. Wet rating ‘A’. As new. New front shocks and mounts 2017 The list is endless… and I will have forgotten some stuff for sure. Headlight wipers removed. They are bordering on useless anyway. These were removed when I was treating the inner wings around the wheel arch with rust preventative stuff. A common site of corrosion. The driver’s side has just started to bubble a bit. The passenger side is fine. It was to stop it getting worse. This is a 25 year old car. It has been around a long time. The body work is not great, however given it’s age it deserves a bit of a break. Various marks and scratches around. Bad ding in rear nearside passenger door (see pics). Scuff on front nearside bumper. Scuffs on the bottom of the bumper. Some rust bubbles on the rear boot and behind front mud guard (see pics) Rust on the bottom of rear driver side door. Earlier this year whilst getting some roofing work, my roofer splattered some of the driver’s door and bonnet with some silicone spray (intended for the sandstone chimney to make it waterproof). Sadly this did not wash off and remains in little spots. It is clear so only seen close up. A proper professional body work job may lift it. It certainly came of the windscreen after a while. I have tried T cut etc but it seemed to do little. More time is required. I have deliberately not cleaned and polished this car for the pictures. I wanted it to be seen naked as it were. I have added a nice shiney waxed picture to show its potential. This car has been a labour of love and a on going project for the last 8 years. Mechanically it is very good and has been well looked after by myself. Body work, not great, interior not great either. 7 seat conversion in the boot. Car really needs a good carpet and upholstery deep clean. Leather needs some proper TLC. Part of the rear upper seats have dried out. Stupidly I have used moisture traps in the Winter to keep the damp low in the car. The liquid from these spilled this year (unknown at the time) and has literally dried and shrunk some of the leather. (can be seen in the pictures around the fold down arm rest). Devastated to say the least. “FERRITA” cat back stainless exhaust system. Fitted after the original gave fell into a pile of rust. Nice subtle burble. ECU “shemtech” 850R specific remap fitted. I have the original standard ECU which will come with the car. Never had it on a rolling road. Gives much more mid range grunt. Reverse intercooler pipes fitted. Makes a massive difference to throttle response and a well documented improvement. I have the standard original pipes that will come with the car. Rapid car in its day, rapid car now. Mildly modified but easily put back to standard if required. Surprises many people. 250 bhp in standard form. I suspect easily 280+ in with currents mods. I am very open and honest. I’m probably doing the car a dis-service with all I’ve written. It’s still a belter of a car. I just don’t use it enough and feel it deserves a fresh owner who will continue my little legacy. Please come and view it. It isn’t as bad as I have portrayed. I live just beside the M74 motorway in SW Scotland. 15 miles from the English Border (M6). |
