Default Free 240 Towbar - collrct from Thurrock

To any reasonably established member A Volvo towbar. The type that has a little height adjustment by unbolting and rebolting the towball carrier.

A rear valance cut to suit the towbar is included.

It would take me some time to get the energy to provide photographs. I probably won't achieve that.

Hey. It's a free genuine Volvo towbar.

I can include fixing nuts and bolts, which obviously have cost me money.

I prefer to see this go in to use. A good scrub-up, apply anti corrosion treatment. Cushtie.

Or, I hope not, scrap.

Collection fromThurrock.

Stephen

That is a very generous offer, Stephen. I hope it goes to an appreciative home. I wouldn't worry about photographs, I am sure that anyone familiar with these cars will know what one looks like. Out of interest, is there any difference between a saloon and an estate as far as tow-bars are concerned?

Regards, John.

There is basically no difference, but one should bear in mind that an estate is potentially likely to be more heavily loaded, so having the ability to adjust the ball height might be useful.
I recall a camping trip when we had 5 people, a full length roof rack loaded with a heavy tent, a large gas cylinder and cooker, plus a caravan. The back was well down, which needed the ball raising several inches above normal.

On the way home we picked up a heavy garden bench which someone was throwing out.

Thank you John and Clifford.

I think most 240 owners who want a towbar already have one. Maybe someone will want one now.

This one came with my car. I replaced it with a foldaway one. Neat, and a strong stable tow. Both are genuine Volvo towbars.

My first Volvo was a 244DL. I fitted a towbar from Halfords to that. I wish I still had that DL today. But I moved house and acquired a too small garage. Ouch. Eventually the penny dropped, I got the garage extended and bought a 245.

That is a very generous offer - well done to you.

I hope you are able to find a good home for the tow bar.

:-)

Hi Stephen.
I'm a bit late to the party, do you still have the towbar?

Hello and welcome.

I need to sort things out a bit. Perhaps we could collect/meet/deliver in 2022?

It will need a serious clean and paint &c... it has not been stored in ventilated central heating on a carpet ...

It is a genuine Volvo towbar.

Stephen

Thanks for the welcome, and the offer.
Anytime next year is fine. My 240 is mobile so travel not a problem.
