Default 2009 V70 D5 185 Maintenance Tips

Hi all,

Have recently bought a V70 manual approaching 190k that I need to see me through the next year if at all possible.

Newly MOT’d, recent cambelt and decent maintenance history. I just did an oil and filter change with OEM stuff and I had to shell out for a split Intercooler pipe which cost a staggering amount just for the part.

Anyways, what would you do/check for as routine maintenance/parts to check to keep it on the road, as budget is limited.

Cheers

To be honest, there isn’t really much to check that’s out of the ordinary. Check tyre treads, reservoir levels like brake fluid & coolant are where they should be. Make sure the tyre pressure are correct, as its a big car & you don’t want to be driving it around on its alloys!

Keep the oil changes up. Don’t forget about the air filter & fuel filter! Did you change these too?

Do you know if the auxiliary belt & auxiliary belt tensioner was changed? Not the cam belt, I’m referring to the belt that turns the pulleys for the power steering, alternator etc.

Has the a/c belt been changed? There’s a separate belt for the a/c on these cars.

The reason I ask is because if the auxiliary belt snaps, it can wrap around the timing belt & destroy your engine. The same goes for the a/c belt, so its best to have fresh belts on than old worn ones to reduce the chances of this occurring.
