Unhappy XC90 Brake pads and discs - Main dealer???

The brakes have started rubbing on our XC90 T6 SE without warning (didn't realise there was no warning indicator and they have now worn completely and scored the discs).

My wife took the car to "Pro-tyre" to get the pads & discs replaced and they advised this was to be carried out by the main dealer only and they could not source the parts. The cost at main dealer is £375. Am I getting ripped off and can I not just take it to Kwik fit or A.N.Other? I need the work done very quickly so would appreciate any advice given.

Thanks,

Mike

Is there just 1 disc per wheel? (Sorry to be a bit slow). If so, the total parts costs for discs and pads would be circa £174 and they are asking for £375!

Nope one disc per wheel so that's a bit OUCH. Are you sure the dealer isn't giving you a price including fitting?

Yes - they are including fitting - but does that still appear a bit high?

TBH, fitting front brakes is quite a simple task. If you don't want to do the actual fitting, try and find a local mechanic who'll let you supply the parts and just charge for the fitting. If they are the same as most other front brakes, it shouldn't be more than 1 hours labour.

I did mine myself 3 weeks ago.Took an hour to do the first side and 20 mins to do the other, mainly due to very, very tight bolts on the caliper holding bracket. Cost was £130 for the parts. They're no different to any other car, just bigger.
