How long a period from replacing rings and big end shells before first oil and filter change? I'm thinking about 500 km.

New oils slmost make this unnecessary now.
However £15 and 30mins of graft cant doing any harm I would think about changing that to 1000 clicks but if that means a long period then change when the cars brought out for the new season Russ |

If you are storing any car it's best to change out the old oil and store it with new. In your case, as Russ says 1000k should be fine but it depends on how the rings bed in. If you are too gentle with them they can glaze the bores so they do need to work a bit to mate them up with the bores. As also said an oil change is cheap and if it is going to get limited use over what we wouldn't call winter, I'd choose that option.
