V50 headlight bulb upgrades?
Hi all, new member here with a D5 V50 R Design.
Love the car, but find that the standard headlights (not Xenons) are poor. Does anyone have any recommendations for a set of bulb replacements (main, dipped and side) for the V50? I'd prefer a sharper white/blue tint than the yellowy standard bulbs! |

I put some 120% white bulbs in my V50. Very easy to fit and much better than the standard ones, they weren't that expensive either. I've still got the packets in the car so I'll tell you exactly what I bought, as soon as it stops raining.

I do actually use night breakers in the winter months as gives a better light in the rain, and swap them out for the ultras in the spring and through summer. this too saves the life of my night breakers as they can be a bit pricey!

If you have a EuroCarParts nearby, this us about the cheapest way to get night breakers at the moment over the counter. Not much nore than you will pay on eBay, particularly if there is a P&P charge.

The best you can do is aftermarket xenons, they are very simple to install and there are some very good choices out there. Other than that i had the same problem when i had my V50 back few years ago and nothing really helped. I tried many bulbs, but nothing was doing the job. I personally believe these upgrade bulbs are just a market trick and they are ripping off people. You pay 3 times more than the standard bulb price for a illusion! Not to mention that halogen bulbs is good to be replaced every 6 months because they get weaker over time. |
