Default V70R upgrade

I was in 2 minds as to whether to keep or sell my 98 Saffron V70r 2WD Auto but took it to Spa for a track day last week
Now I want to beef it up a bit to be more predictable handling and a bit more power
The stock suspension I gather is designed to handle the output, but is that just for road use?
What's the first useful add on to get more output?
Or is it correct that the auto box should not be subjected to more than standard power?

I'm awaiting the same kind of info regarding my 06 S60 T5(260BHP stock). Mine is an Auto and although it is bloody fast for an automatic I would be more than happy and content for 300bhp if I knew for definite the reliability of the auto box would not be compromised.

Maybe i'm being optimistic but i can't imagine Volvo would put in a gearbox where it would be at it's absolute limit, especially on an R or T5 model.

The auto boxes can take quite a bit of abuse provided they're well cared for, if you intend going north of 300bhp then an additional oil cooler is a good investment. Quickest route for more power is a remap followed by a decent filter and an exhaust system.

BSR provide remaps for both the t5 and the R with the only difference between the manual and the auto being the peak torque is lower in the autos.

Would those figures be from the magical BSR number making machine?

Yes, not sure how accurate BSR figures are though. Have always been a little bit skeptical of tuning company power claims.

Oops posted the wrong link for the V70R BSR stage 1 remap. Here is the right one

Autobox torque limit only applies to cars from 99 onwards.

I never had mine removed (torque limiter) but it's meant to make quite a difference.

I've only seen figures before and after for the 55/50 s60r and iirc it's meant to shave 1.2 sec to 60, how much of that is true I have no idea.
