Hi Kids
I think you will find that at the time the price Julie paid for her new turbo and tweeks was less than a Rica remap. Stuart Ps 288bhp and a new turbo to boot cant be bad. |

Aeroesh, would be interesting to see what figures you can bag on the PE dyno - just for comparison Chris

I thought you had 266 wheel horsepower, not 265 at the flywheel!! Which 'wheel' are we talking about here??

lol - was an interesting day !!
I think it got 266 WHP at VT, but 265 BHP at PE. I did go back to have diagnostics done at VT at cost, but things turned out ok. There are some graphs on my website of printouts if anyone is interested. Chris

Hang on guys and gals, what's my car got to do with what I asked? and I hope no-one's implying that certain dynos are laced!
Stuart, thanks for that. I think you're the only one who's actually answered my initial question rather than just flaming me for having a car with RICA mentioned! If you're saying that a new turbo and other stuff is cheaper than a remap then thats a good deal and I guess more of us should consider going down that route. However, I just thought turbos were relatively big bucks compared. Can we all chill now! |

Aero we are chilled, well I am, lol.
Just having a discussion as there is nothing else to do in this cold drizzly night - bring on summer. Chris

Sorry Aeroresh, I think you may have misunderstood me. My point is simply this: On the basis of the figures that you are quoting, the transmission losses amount to 12.5%. If that is indeed correct, wouldn't you then agree, that given your car has an M56 gearbox of similar design, you should be expecting to get close to 300whp for a 340bhp map?

also aeroresh, your taking the figures youve been given for your rica a true.
this has been discussed many times and the rica figures have proved (in my mind and others) to be false. the rica and even tme will only give about 260-270 bhp on a proper dyno. are we saying the dyno's are laced, well i am!! - read saffronc70's post and look at his dyno results, then read the other posts from pyaap about how pe produced results with 1-2 bhp from other dyno's he went to. when i had a chat to marco, he said around 10-12% is correct for the tranny loss. IC's car made 280bhp on p.e's dyno with a 16t, tme and 3" dp and cat back. so julies figure of 288bhp is actually pretty good. for anyone that dosent believe what im saying, here is another rica'ed volvo not making claimed power: http://swededemon.com/850html/The850.html and to make people think even more about rica's claims, this is his s70 which is running a kkk from the s60r - that gets 317bhp. and if you have a read on his forum, that was using rica's dyno as he only lives down the road from their hq. But i think he is later aiming for about 400bhp from that block. http://swededemon.com/s70html/s70.html check out what bhp he gets from his 19t and other goodies!!! - so anyone that says a chipped alone t5 can make 304bhp when he makes 311 with all that needs help!! people really need to get their heads out of the clouds and accept what our t5's are really capable of. aeroresh, have you dyno'ed your 340bhp s60 yet? Just to add, im not stirring or targetting anyone. Its goo that we can have these discussions and try and get to the truth. Last edited by bobcat; Feb 19th, 2006 at 22:45. |
