Default Fuel

Have been using Sainsbury regular unleaded.
Filled up with Shell High Octaine as suggested via V70R site.
Amazed by the difference in performance.
Well worth the extra money.

Previously owned Chimaera 4.0 and tried different fuels.
Made no difference.

The R appears to like higher RON fuel.
Odd but it works.

Before anyone asks I have no association with Shell fuels.
This is just a comment regarding my experience.

I believe turbocharged petrol engines feel the benefit of high octane fuel the most - hence why you feel a difference in the R. Tesco 99 Octane well worth a shot - my T5 goes well on that.

Chris,

My closest fuel stations are Esso, Shell, Sainsbury and BP. (in that order)
All within about 2 miles.
No Tesco near me.

Will try the higher RON Esso next.

Cheers

Have done about 50 miles on the Shell ultimate.

The R just gets better.
Totally amazed by the difference.

Was a fuel sceptic till now.
Alternatively was the Sainsbury fuel just poor.

If you own a Volvo with a turbo try it.

Thumbs up

Running 98 Ron all the time in the R, highly recommended it, bit more money, but the R enjoys it. Also suggested in the handbook.

Cad,

Our cars are pretty much identical.
What fuel make do you use?

Have tried higher octane fuels by Sainsbury, Shell and Esso.
Shell seems to be best.

Sure you agree the R is a great motor.

Only Shell and Tesco sell "higher octane" fuels, where as the others claim their "higher octane" fuel are actually what Shell and Tesco sell as their lower octane fuel..
