Changed mine (2008 model) without any codes needing resetting, just make sure you leave the ignition off for a fair while before attempting disconnection as some systems take a while to close down, I waited till the handbrake warning light went off then allowed another 10 mins, radios are not coded these days. Swapped my battery, all working ok.

Just out of interest did you buy a Volvo battery?

I did my battery change myself with no issues, initially, I purchased a battery via Amazon, it claimed to be compatible but it was not, it a few cm too tall to fit, I sent it back, Amazon were less than helpful.
I then bought one of my Volvo dealer with no issues.

Because of the stop/start, the battery needs to be an AGM type. I assume that fitting a non-AGM/normal battery will confuse the charging system.

My handbook says a normal battery for stop start manual vehicles and AGM for autos and the support battery.

From memory, I'm pretty sure that's what's fitted to mine from new.

I'm very surprised that you don't have stop/start. Apologies for the confusion!

It wasn't me who mentioned autos being different. I don't see why this would make a difference.
