Default Fuel filler neck question.

Hi,

I'm looking at an issue related to fuel tank level.

Does anyone know what the 2 bulbous things are on the filler neck and where all the pipes go please.

Thanks Dave.

Might help if you tell us the part numbers from the diagram...
Could be the rubber conection pipe, pipes will go to fuel rail via filter, return, maybe vent as well...
What's the issue?

Are they vent pipes that feed back to the top of the tank?

Hi

Thanks for your reesponses.

There isn't a part number, it's a part on the filler neck so I've added a close up of the area I' m asking about.

1 pipe I assume is the tank vent, possibly 1 to EVAP but the other ?

I'm not going to give the code I'm getting as I've been trying to fix this issue since May and I've been told it's a vacuum leak more times than I care to count.

There are only 8 car's (I can find) across the whole world that have had this error code/idle issue and all cars have been to pro's and nobody has ever fixed the issue. My car has gone to a Volvo specialist who couldn't figure it out either. Between us the whole vacuum, high pressure, electrical and exhaust systems have all been checked/fixed and nothing has solved it.

The first time it has behaved normally in all this time was after I lifted her NS centre point to change the exhaust system and she drove for about 1 hour before the error came back, she had 50+ litres at that stage. I jacked up again to prove my theroy a couple of weeks ago and the error vanished again. I've now done 110 miles over 4.5 hours with no error returning/idling perfectly and the fuel level was at 30L when I did it this time which is why I'm now convinced it's a problem with the fuel tank of some sort.

I'd basically like to know where all the 1 way valves etc are and work out where all the breather lines go to figure out which one is causing the issue.

Yours Dave

Expansion chambers for the fuel if you fill the tank to the top on a cold evening and the temperature is hot in the mid day .. it is surprising how much petrol expands when heated say from 10C to 30C ...
