Well the dealer says its the Steering Angle Sensor thats faulty and needs replacing so will have to hope Volvo offer some goodwill given they want £368 to fix it and the car is about 8 weeks out of warranty and has done less than 25k miles.

Hopefully they are more sensible than here in Poland. If they would like to keep you as customer then I don't see any issues for them to do it for free.

Default Anti Skid Service Required

"Anti Skid Service required" can be triggered by not leaving the front wheels in a straight line when parked. When you pull off the warning comes on. drive for about 10-12 miles and the warning should clear after the system re-aligns. If not then the usual ignition off / ignition on trick usually does the trick.

Thanks Bainbm, unfortunately in my case it really is broken. The car was parked with wheels straight, it had sat on the drive for 5 days reversed into its spot. I did try the ignition on and off but to no avail and have driven about 30 miles since the problem and it won't go away.

Have now got the car back from the garage, they had to replace the Steering Angle Sensor module and the Clockspring (no idea, thought it was a diesel).

Volvo contributed 60% so I'm £150 out of pocket, I know it could of been worse, but on a low mileage car that's only just 3 years old it shouldn't of happened.

I had the abs light and anti skid message, then yesterday brake failure message popped up. Temp , speedo and rev counter all went to zero and my55 now seems to be in safe mode. Local mech said its possible a faulty brake pedal switch though when I do the hold reset button and press fog light 3 times code seem to be coming from the brake control module.
anyone seen this before

For the SAS code how do you no they replaced it. there is a software upgrade for this issue. this is the first fix if that fails then you replace the SAS.
thanks
mike

Hello outnumered,

Exactly my thought regarding SAS replacement. I did in Volvo dealer so I guess they did it however I have saw old one so can't be certain for sure. One thing is that it has warranty and if something goes wrong then they should, hopefully would, do it for free.
As I read somewhere usually dealers don't repair and just change parts!

@gts2811,

I would suggest you go to a garage where they would be able to read error codes. Mine never went into "safe mode" perhaps it is just a bit old as it is 2005 2.5T.
Good luck with getting this issue resolved. There is plenty information even in this thread on there to start from.
