Damp C30 - No sunroof

Sorry yes LOTS of condensation on the inside of the glass mainly concentrated on the windscreen with some around the passenger and driver glass.

Can I add that the car wasn't moving when it got damp, it had just been sat overnight.

i think that could be existing dampness not new. glass gets cold over night. glass steams up... you gotta check the ac drainage and dry carpets before anything else.

As lockstock says this sounds very much like existing damp rather than fresh,the undercarpet sound deadening can hold a ton of water without the carpets seeming damp[one reason I suggested pressing down on the carpet with the palm of your hand-to see if any damp/wet then seeped through the carpet]and consequently takes a good long while to dry out.One other area you could check[it's quick and free]is the scuttle drains under the bonnet,if these are blocked the scuttle can fill with water which then finds its way into the car-usually via the pollen filter,although on the C30 this may be different.

Not sure how you are getting on but I had a similar thing when I purchased my '07 C30.

I first noticed a lot of condensation and then a wet rear seat. I think my problem were the two rear boot window bumpers, these were leaking into the rear which was then travelling to the front of the car.

My temporary fix is silicone on the rear of the these bumpers. To get to them I popped off the rear trim by the boot hatch.

The proper fix is a bumper off job.

If these look wet and you silicone there is a nice easy way to see if the fix is good. Chuck some talc powder around it and wait for it to rain, it should show up there if it still leaks

Just for info. A family friend is suffering the same problem. Her car is a Vauxhall Corsa. We googled Vauxhall Corsa wet foot wells/ driver/passengers foot well etc. and came across a video showing that over time the amount of gunk that had been drawn into the car and formed into sludge and blocked drainage points or had damaged seals was causing the problem. May I respectfully suggest you have a look, and form your own opinion. It wasn't something I'd have even thought possible. Good luck.

Hello, thanks very much for all the help.

I've finally discovered that the leak is coming from the front windscreen.
I happened to have the blowers on full blast as I was washing the car and a huge bubble begun to appear at the top seal of the glass (on the outside).

A good tip for other people is to use a heck of a lot of soap, close all the windows on the car and pop the blowers on..bubbles will come.


Also, I realised a heavy thump from the inside of the windscreen, basically makes the damn thing flap in the breeze!!!

Disgraceful that it is clearly floored from the factory and frankly the quality of the car has put me off Volvo at this rate. Really such a shame because the cars come across as comparable to BMW/Audi/VW.

it may be original but could also be a replacement screen you will never know what has been done to the car before you owned it , have you checked to see if it has ever been a cat ? , easy way to tell when looking at a car goto auto trader , sell a car . enter cars reg , click ok check value which will be way over the top. goto next page and on the right if it has ever been classed as a cat ? it will be there

Same thing happened to my S40, the windscreen seals just deterioate. I got my whole windscreen replaced as it had chips in it which solved the problem. As a temp before the windsceen was replaced I just layered ducktape over the faulty seal. I found this out quite easily by pressing up on the windscreen.

I wouldnt really blame volvo for this issue, just keep your car clean. Maybe the car was left around for a while and dirt left on it which would eat away at the seal (Or done by previous owner). Mine happened after my car was left unsed quite a while and uncleaned. Always keep seals clear and clean.

I read that online that also made me point the finger at Volvo. I contacted a couple of glass replacement companies and they both immediately said 'they are bad from factory'.

I'm having a new one sorted in the new year.
