Default Heater

Hi all was seeing what people think, my heater has decided to stop getting hit which is nice in this weather.

It is coming through Luke warm and then cold then fairly warm if that makes sense, I’ve checked the thermostat is working which it is and got my hand onto the heater core which is hot but my local garage are saying it’s the core that is going.

Spoke to Volvo they say software will need doing so not sure what to do I am also getting really bad condensation as well which is annoying and the garage say that is caused by the core so was seeing if anyone else has had anything similar thanks again.

Daniel

Are both heater pipes in the engine bay equally too hot to hold?

They are both hot and about the same temperature I have taken the side panels off both sides and got my hand around the core and it feels hot as well.

Just been looking at it and had my torch in the 3 little slots maybe air sensor but not sure and the little wire is broken inside the wife and kids were cleaning inside the car the other day, so not sure what that wire does but can’t be good if it’s broke.

If you mean in here, that's the cabin temperature sensor which enables the CCM to decide if heat or cooling is required to achieve the selected temperature so that would explain it.
It's a glass bead thermistor which are cheap enough to buy but the climate unit will need to be removed and opened in order to solder in a new one.

even if that sensor is no longer working , the heat is available in the little radiator all it needs is airflow and direction which you can do manually by turning the fan up and choosing floor for example and you should get max heat from the vents ...

so when you have the fan going fast and it is blasting out heat on manual and it then goes cool what is the state of the two heater pipes under the bonnet or on the side of the heater if you can feel them , One should burn you 70C - 90C the other should be somewhat cooler but still quite hot ... 30C - 50 C
