Default Seatbelt trouble

Our 2010 XC90 has developed a fault with the seatbelt buckle.
Mainly the drivers but also the front passenger.
It can take absolutely ages to manage to undo it, which obviously could be life threatening. Sometimes it works fine.
I searched on the forum and read about recalls but it doesn’t include my model
I’ve also done the Volvo online recall checker.

Is this something I should go to Volvo about?
I’m not a customer so don’t have experience of any dealers.

Or is it an easy DIY fix?

Any help much appreciated as ever.

Cheers.

It is very difficult to diagnose this without looking at the buckles. The only way to fix this is to disassemble and/or replace.
It may be a broken spring, or other part, or contamination with dirt/food/sweets etc.

It's sort of like that on my XC60, though that is not part of the recent recall.

I'd try a couple of liberal squirts of WD40 into the latch - maybe wrap it in an old towel to prevent it getting on the interior.

I had exactly the same trouble with my last car, it was caused by a build up of dust and fluff in the buckle; I cured it by blowing it out with compressed air then using a dry lubricant spray.
