Default 2.0 auto fuel consumption

Hi All ,does anybody on here have 2.0 auto ,mine is 97 model with 77k on clock auto fluid was changed approx 5k ago ,problem is since the cold weather has started my fuel consumption around town has dropped from around 28-30 around to 20 22 mpg ,anybody else have this problem

I'd start by changing the thermostat - is your heater not much cop as well? I had a similar experience with my 1.8 and a new thermostat improved it no end. About £10 from GSF (including gasket) - you'll need two torx drives, 25 & 40 I think, and a small bottle of antifreeze. Took me about 15 minutes.

thanks for advice but i have to say the heater in my is hot and car seems to warm up quickly enough
