Default Retro fit Trip computer

Hi guys,

I was booking in my S40 (08) for its first service and asked how much it would be to fit a trip computer whilst doing the service. I was shocked to find out they wanted £350 for the upgrade including parts, labour and vat.
It should only be a software upgrade I would think? Surely they don't have different ECU's or add sensors depending on the need of the customer. It sounds like that would be a more costly way to produce the car.

Thoughts?

Regards,
David

Yes the most expensive part is the software, but there maybe a new stalk / switch assembly required too depending on model etc.
