V40 dashboard lights
I lost one of the small lamps behind the fog lamp and headlight switch area on the right hand side of the dash.
I removed the unit to find 3 small bulbs but after goin to Halfords they dont have any small enough to fit. I went to Volvo but they have to order them in and want £5 plus vat for them. I've seen after a quick web search today that some Mazda's have very similar bulbs but miles cheaper. Can anyone confirm this or know where I could get replacemet bulbs cheaper than Volvo. cheers guys webbie |

RE: V40 dashboard lights
This is interesting, my headlamp and fog light switches are not lit. The only light I have is a little green one when the lights are on. I've always thought that the switches weren't lit. Am I wrong?

I had to replace them bulbs in my s40 and yeah the bulbs are a fortune to get from dealers, you could try mazda ones carn't see them been miles differant.
Try taking one of your old ones into a mazda dealer and compare them before you buy them, maybe a little cheeky but could save you a few quid.

RE: V40 dashboard lights
Hi,
I've replaced a few of these lamps on my 2002 V40. I bought some small bulbs from RS (wire ended) and re soldered them to the small holders from the origanal bulbs (the origanal bulbs were white with blue rubber caps over). Going by memory they were about £1.50 for 10. You have to be carefull when soldering.. use a hot small iron but don'e keep it on the connector too long as you will melt the plastic holder. Mark |

RE: V40 dashboard lights
cool guys got them sorted.
went to Mazda but they hadnt seen anything like it before. went to Lucas who had 4 in stock. I bought the lot for £1.60 all in. that means I could have gotten 14 lamps from Lucas for the price of 1 at Volvo. removed the blue condoms from my existing lamps and fitted in minutes and all is bright and nice again. then noticed the fag lighter not lit up so managed to get into that by removing the gear stick gator and replaced that bulb (not the same as the other ones) anyway thanks for the replies webbie ps: i did look at RS but coudnt see any, and yes you can removed the old ones but be quick with the soldering iron as it does melt the plastic real quick. thanks again (-: |
