Active Bending Headlights
How do you identify if you have Active Bending Headlights. in the My XC70 Settings there is the option to turn on or off this feature, but whendriving on the roads at night i never see any difference in the headlight pattern on the road. At the same time we are heading to Europe next year, and i was told there is a manual switch to adjust the headlamps from UK to the continental Pattern, i dont have that switch in the car. could it be on the headlamp itself??
thanks |

If you have active bending lights firstly you will not have a headlamp level wheel next to the headlights switch. You can also see the light beam move as you steer, only works on the move though.

I have the active bending lights and Volvo say they do not need to be changed for the continent as they are a flat beam that has no bias to either left or right. I have a MY13 XC70.

The continental adjust is shown in the handbook.

I have ABLs on my XC60 and have never been sure they were doing anything even though the light on the dash comes on and goes out as you start. I even asked the dealer to check at the last service.
I went out in light fog last week and it as clear that they were working because the beam showed up as the steering wheel was turned. Clearly my concerns were unfounded and all was well.

Active bending headlight assembly removal
I have a MY2011 XC70 and the clear plastic lens cover of the side light has dropped into the headlamp pod, just lying against the outer lens. It just needs to be popped back in, but, without baking off the front headlamp lens, I want to remove the xenon active assembly to get my hand in and pop the side light cover back on but I can't get the whole active assembly out. I've removed 3 torx screws but the assembly is too large to fit through the access panel.
Does anyone one know how to take the active assembly apart so that it will fit through the access panel? |
