Throttle Body - V40 1.8i GDi 2001
Hi guys,
Having extreme difficulty in getting a throttle body for 2001 (P2) 1.8i GDi here in Ireland. Plenty of P1 cars but no P2's!! New part quoted at over £600 plus fitting. Anybody out there with one going spare!!??

Is it the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) that is faulty, or are your magnets loose? Magnets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EK1vtuNluA To check the TPS use a multimeter and try the following Note! The throttle disc is not fully closed in the resting position. The position of the throttle disc must be altered counter-clockwise to close it fully. Ignition off Remove the intake hose from the throttle body (TB) to access the throttle disc

Hi Gatos,
Following a diagnostic check, the butterfly is stuck. I take it that means the disc in the middle of the throttle body. That would be the magnets??

Possibly yes. Have you watched the video? You can actually repair that. Or alternatively, I might have a spare one by next week. I have sent it to another member here to diagnose his problem. If he does not need it, I'll let you know

Thanks for the video, great stuff! Have it off and sure enough one of the magnets is loose. Next challenge is locating somebody in Ireland who sells suitable glue!!
Thanks Gatos, you have been great help.

Disaster!! On closer inspection the loose magnet was cracked, and not useable so I am back to square one. I have a beautifully clean throttle body with only one magnet.

Wait until the other forum member gets back to me. He might not need the throttle body after all. Or if he keeps mine, I am sure you can come to an agreement with him for a price for his magnets and shaft

Not interfering at all with your repair by Gatos... but if not successful and as there may a lot of money at stake, as you have the GDI SJ model then you have to watch your chassis number for the correct throttle housing. There is only one for the -1999 SM GDI = 30875006 But two for the 2000- SJ GDI = 30875357 CH -086999 = 3075796 CH 087000- |

Gatos, that's grand, will wait and see what he does/does not want. Once again thanks for your help.
