So very good to hear of another one - and in use too! When I got mine (some years ago now) I was told mine was the only one the DVLA knew, but of course we all know how inefficient the DVLA are. They seem to think all time before their records were computerised has never existed - I have had another project TE for about 12 years but they don't know of it.....
If you look on howmanyleft.com you can see they admit to knowing a few (but I have more than them on my private records, although mine are mostly projects). Also unfortunately when registering cars was left to local DVLA offices, if they had not heard of a specific variant they simply lumped them all in to the general category of Volvo 164 (or maybe 164 auto). Therefore exact info isn't available, but rest assured you have an unusual car: unfortunately it takes an enthusiast to know one when they see one, consequently it will be unlikely to get much attention at classic car shows unless extremely good-looking. I once heard one belligerant at a show tell his son my TE was merely a Volvo 240 variant, which one could see every day in the supermarket car park. I rest my case..... Paul the appreciator |

Very few, it seems! Take a look at www.howmanyleft.co.uk and search for Volvo 164. You'll see a line for the TE. Not 100% reliable, but it gives an order of magnitude.
Hang on to yours and keep looking after it!

To think that there is a supermarket out there some where with a car park full of 164s sorry 240 variants - now that would be worth seeing lol.I was out and about on anglesey a few weeks ago with my 164 and passed through bodern but did not find "classicswede" anywhere maybe got the address wrong. There is another 164 near me a 1969 auto in white in very nice condition - had a chat with the owner when getting petrol he had not long bought it for 750 quid on the road with very few issues !!!
