Front passenger door swings open
Problem is with the front passenger door where once opened it swings which is quite dangerous when parked on the road.
I think is was suffering from the clicking noises, as mentioned in the '...Killers & Common Faults' thread. I haven't taken it apart to look yet, but to fix it do I just need to buy the 'Door Check Strap' and fit it. Is there any welding involved. https://www.partsforvolvosonline.com...5091c2733f0739

That click is normally the sound of the metal in the A frame popping back and forth as its cracked. Mine went in a big way, same symptoms, requires welding back up to restore the strength in the mount for the check-strap. Here's a pic:
Cause of clicking Note that this damage was largely invisible with the check strap and door in place. You will need to remove the door to fix this if your clicking is caused by metal fatigue as mine was: Door off process There are two skins inside the door frame, both will need to be checked and repaired depending on severity of fatigue: Repairing inner skin Finished anchor point

Not sure how bad it is I guess I need to take the door panel off to see. Is it something that breaks inside the door? Looks like something is loose/broke inside the door. I don't hear any clicks or bangs when the door is opened or when its swinging around in the wind.

That looks ok, just replace it, bolt off, bolt on
PS, is that a crack emerging to the right of the top bolt?

I had to do this to mine. Pretty easy fix if there is no door damage. I was lucky. I fixed it right after the popping sound started.

I took it out today and luckily its just the check strap that's broke. The bolt on the body looks good. I'll order one in the morning.
