Xc 60 awd geartronic d3
I am planning buying a new Volvo XC 60 D3 AWD GEARTRONIC. Has anyone experience of the true life MPG on this vehicle and how does the AWD cope in snow?

The AWD works as it should however if the tyres have no grip then you are stuffed, I have winter tyres that I fit when it gets inclement and I have not be stuck since I purchased them,in fact I have pulled another XC60 on summer tyres out of trouble in snow In summary, brill with the correct tyres, otherwise just like any other car in the snow

Only just got mine (a 2.4 D so I think similar to the D3 you are considering with 163 hp).
So mpg seems to be 39-40 on the motorway at around 77 on cruise. on A roads it drops to 36-37 and on the mixed suburban commute it seems to be 30-32. I appreciate this thread is a bit old, but thought i would share the info anyway.

We have the 3. generation Haldex in a V70 from 2006. The XC60 has the 4. gen. which should be better for response of rear wheel drive.
In snow mine is fine but purely because we have winter tyres fitted. On summer tyres you might be slightly better off compared to 2 wheel drive but steering and braking will still be abysmal. I think MpG on newer models is a lot better. Ours is quite poor but then technology is more than 8 years old. You might get a better answer in the XC60 forum. |

I have a manual D3 XC60 with AWD. No issues on snow, just bear in mind in weighs 1.8tonnes, so plan the braking a bit earlier! ABS no help on snow / ice
