Default Turbo VNT actuator position on start up

Hi,

I was looking at my VNT actuator arm position today. From what I remember it should move just after start up- but I may be getting that mixed up with my Citroen. Can anyone confirm. Mine didn't move just after start up. My car is 2003 XC90 D5. No fault codes etc.

Thanks

Stays still on start up as vacuum is required by the engine mounts then as revs hit 1000, vacuum is cut from the mounts and the boost solenoid diverts it to the VNT actuator.
Lightly revving the engine to 3000 or so then releasing should be enough to see the VNT arm have full travel in both directions (around 20mm) and you can see the boost pipe bulge as boost increases.
