Default 244 gle spec

Hi, hope the owner does not mind me asking but, I am interested in a 244 advertised on here, excellent informative advert. I have seen pics and car looks solid although needs a few jobs. I had always thought gle cars were fuel injected and had alloys? My dad had a gle when I was young, but am sure his was 2.1 inj and had alloys with manual od box. Car in forum is auto, 2.3carb with steel wheels. Was spec a personal tick box matter as it were. It's an 86 model and I am quite keen.

All early GLE's were K jetronic fuel injection but by the time they changed to 240GLE it could be a carb engine and not even leather in some.

Alloys were only standard equipment on GLT's

I just read the bits n bobs on main website, and found above out. Thanks for info regardless. Always loved 200 series, owned three wagons, never a saloon but always fancied one. Will try to view the one in classifieds soon.

Didn't Volvo upgrade the spec slightly year on year at that time? Although not a 244, I owned an '86 744 GLE which was fitted with front but not rear electric windows, had steel wheels and was carburettor fed. A year later, this spec became the norm for the GL, while my '87 745 GLE was petrol injection, had electric windows front and rear and was fitted with alloys.

Regards, John.

Have spoken to fella today, sounds like a nice car although I have eyes on another few. It might be too nice to keep outside but won't know till I see it. Essentially it's a thirty year old car in a not particularly desirable body shape, saloon, auto, or spec, and has no mot. Difficult to value till I see it.
