This my first Volvo having run a fleet of them at work and did not want there to be any suggestions of conflict of interest.
Now that I have retired it is very pleasing to see that I am driving a "young man's car" according to the stats. Two months into ownership I am delighted with my XC60. Nog yet tried it towing the caravan yet but on paper it will be good as hoped.

Get my XC in 2 months at the ripe old age of 34. Having endured a month of old man jibes from my German driving colleagues the results of the poll may help my defence a little!

Am 30 my wife is 31 this is our first Volvo.
Previous car was a Ford Fiesta. The main reason we changed was our requirement to tow a horsebox(had been previously been using the inlaws Disco) as neither of us have the +E category required to drive the 2.5ish ton Disco and horsebox we always required a driver with +E category to take us where we needed to go. We had almost brought a Jeep GC before Christmas plan was used the Jeep to tow the horsebox and keep the car fiesta for everyday. However there a few issues: 1. the mileage of the Jeep was not correct. 2. £470 VAD for Jeep GC 3. An additional £400 for insurance 4. 20ish MPG for the Jeep When a sensor on the Fiesta died, the AA guy who come to recover the car suggest the XC60. I started looking at new cars: - Ford Kuga & Ranger - Honda CRV - Nissan XPath & Navara - Volvo XC60 - the list continues The requirements list was: - MPG close to the Fiesta (47 in winter, 53 in summer) - Kerb between 1800 & 2000KG to allow us to pull a horsebox without +E category - Room for the Dog - Low VED (max £120) - Comfort & Practical as this would have to tow and be our everyday car - Look Good I had drawn up a shortlist based on the above, this was trimmed further by my wife bas purely on how nice the car looked. Our first visit was to the local Volvo Dealership following a test drive we place our order before leaving the dealership! We have now had our XC60 for 3.5weeks, and are loving it. My father-in-law is very jealous of our 41mpg compared to the 20ish MPG for the disco. Towed the horsebox yesterday for the first time, no problem to the XC60. |
