I decided to buy the Roadhawk direct and install it myself.

My first mistake when using the 3 M adhesive mount was to position it, which did not allow the passenger sun visor to lower properly.
Have tried to remove the adhesive pad by trying to cut it off, using dental floss, but failed. Maybe when the weather is warmer and with the car facing into the sun, I may have some success.

Using the suction mount has worked out best, but I get a slight image of the central cover and part of the dash top.
Due to the angle of the V60 windscreen, I cannot get the cam close enough to get a totally clear video recording.

Funnily, only yesterday, I was thinking about trying to modify the suction mount to see if I can get it closer to the windscreen.

As for the adhesive mount?
If I cannot remove it, then Volvo can do it, when I trade the car in.

Did you try using a solvent (acetone) in combination with the dental floss?

Technmoan has a guide here.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1bOM8IJOfI

Forgot to add.
With the suction mount situated at the to of the windscreen, it has no problem locking onto GPS.
Might take around a minute when cam is first installed, but after that, it locks on every time the car is started.

I have plenty of acetone, but from past experience, I know what it can do to plastic.
Even with the dashboard covered, I am reluctant to take acetone inside the car.

I would use hexane, much less risky if it drops on plastic, but unless you have access to a chemistry lab, it is not easy to source. Some people recommend petrol or methylated spirits. Acetone, as you say, can be lethal to plastic.

Roy,
I do not think acetone was mentioned in your link.
Am I wrong?

Technomoan uses IPA.

Most people have acetone at home though which is why I mentioned that could be used for the residue. I've never been a person who spilt stuff. I'd put a little on a rag to wipe it off.

I find that White Spirit is excellent a breaking down the adhesive and then I use IPA to clear the white spirit from the glass.
