My calipers looked like they came out the sea , as were really rusty. I just painted mine with some silver caliper paint from ebay which a year later still look fine. I initially painted them with silver hammerite, but that looked tatty in 6 months and the caliper paint is smoother and easier to look clean when washed.

About the best picture I have, I'm afraid

Exclamation Rusty calipers

Saw an XC60 with very rusty calipers was caused by using a highly acid wheel cleaner which caused the coating on the calipers to come off,a warning not to use an acidic wheel cleaner.

I blame the previous owner then as I only use bilberry cleaner

Saying that, my boss has cleaned his xc ,about twice in 18 months and 32 k miles and his calipers look rusty too.........

Be careful bilberry is highly alkali and can be equally as bad as the highly acidic. Acid free tends to mean it will be highly alkali.

Using it once in a while not bad but regular useis best avoided you are better doingone full clean then using shampoo and cleaning it thatway.

I do mix down to 1 in 6 , so the bottle lasts and isn't too strong and also spray on , agitate with a wheel brush and rinse off in one hit. Not that I have had any issues with the way I do it for the years and cars I have been doing.

60 looks fab. Decals just finish the calipers off, you clear coat them for protection?

Thanks MikeGMT

No i didn't, i also own another car which has red Brembo calipers, they have been coated with clear lacquer from the factory but they turn pink after a while, so i ended up picking off the lacquer and redoing it to return them to red a lot of hassle for nothing i think.

The Volvo still looks good after 2.5 years with just basic Hammerite, i don't use any wheel cleaner just good old fashioned car shampoo and a lambswool mitt
